Tonya Mitchell is untrained except for an oil colour group when she was thirteen Tonya has ‘looked’ at stuff all her life. Her work is a representation of what she finds interesting, expressed in oil paint. Living in the North East most of her work is of images she has created representing landscapes big and small, most quite true to life a few slightly more imaginative. She admits to having a romantics eye, even when it comes to industry and decay. Her aim is to show the beauty of nature from the North East of England, and sometimes beyond, in the hope that appreciation of what we have will motivate people to protect and conserve the natural world.
