The Story

From the top of Etherly Lane there has always (well for at least the last 200 years) been the view of two towers. The modest steeple of St Ann's church is the oldest and the grandeur of the town hall with its ornate rooftops and grand clock is the second. Very recently a new tower has emerged. creating a new sky line for the town.

In front of these towers runs an old street that is being rejuvenated by the opening of artisan shops, bringing back life to a historic space.  Then two pubs have been brought in to give the full respect of life in Bishop Auckland; spiritual cultural and social, The house at the very edge of the painting is the oldest house in town. It would be impossible to ever see this view, I have played with angles and perspectives to create an image that shows the best of Bishop Auckland old and new.
